This personal enrichment short course has been crafted to give beer aficionados a fun and easy way to deepen their understanding of beer, its history, production methods and diverse flavors.
Prior to each 90-minute guided tasting session, participants will be invited to purchase a few specific styles of beer, then join the brewmaster-instructor online for a fun interactive tasting and learning experience to gain a greater appreciation for how various ingredients and different brewing methods influence flavor profiles. We’ll be using official beer judging guidelines. Since this course is fully virtual, participants can join us from anywhere.*

Thursday, February 6, 2025, 7:30-9 p.m. — Stout Season
This session will focus on beer styles that we gravitate towards in the winter. Stouts and winter warmers not only celebrate the season with additions of our favorite holiday spices, but are also usually higher in alcohol (giving us a warming sensation) and full bodied.
Thursday, May 1, 2025, 7:30-9 p.m. — Springtime Cervezas
There’s nothing like taking a beer out into the first warm sunny day of spring. This session will explore pilsner, pale ale and IPA.
Thursday, August 7, 2025, 7:30-9 p.m. — Summer Suds
Summer is a great time to get out and taste all that breweries have to offer as they’re in full swing. This tasting will explore a diverse set of beer from light to dark.
Thursday, November 6, 2025, 7:30-9 p.m. — Bonfire Brews
Oktoberfest has just ended which makes this a great opportunity to explore the style along with some other fall favorites, like pumpkin beer.
*Participants in Foundations of Brewing Science and Brewery Operations must be at least 21 years old.
