Spring enrichment learning for age 50+
Registration is open now for spring classes at the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLI) with classes starting Jan. 28 in Dover, Lewes and Ocean View, and Feb. 11 in Wilmington.
With the gift-giving season in full swing, it’s also timely to note that OLLI gift certificates are available year-round for purchase as gifts for retirements, birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
Affectionately nicknamed “OLLI,” UD’s lifelong learning programs are membership-based organizations structured as learning cooperatives for adults 50 and over to take and teach classes together with no grades, exams or educational prerequisites. More than 900 courses were offered to over 4,000 members last year.
Examples of spring course offerings include:
- Dover―Elder Law, Human Trafficking in Delaware, Great Cover Songs
- Lewes―Viking History, Spring Field Birding, Hand Tool Basics
- Ocean View―U.S. Foreign Service, Oil Painting, Yoga for Seniors
- Wilmington―Investment Study Group, Walter Matthau Films, Digital Photo Editing
OLLI Dover classes are held at Wyoming Church, 216 Wyoming Rd.; Lewes classes at the Fred Thomas Building, 520 Dupont Ave.; and Ocean View classes at Ocean View Town Hall and Community Center, 32 West Ave. Wilmington classes take place at UD’s Arsht Hall, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave.
Financial assistance options are available at all locations.
Prospective members can visit the programs, and register on the same day if they wish, at an open house on Jan. 3 in Wilmington, Jan. 9 in Lewes, or Jan. 10 in Dover, all scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
